How to keep your usage low

What does an ice bath with chiller cost in electricity per month?
With average use (1.0 kWh per day) and a rate of € 0.25 per kWh, with the bath at temperature four days a week, you end up around € 4.50 per month. If the bath is on every day, it's about € 7.60 per month. Calculate it exactly with the calculator above.
Is an ice bath with chiller energy efficient?
Relatively speaking, yes. Depending on how often the bath is kept at temperature, the chiller uses around 200 to 400 kWh per year, comparable to a refrigerator. With a cover and a sheltered spot, you keep usage at its lowest.
What does a sauna use in electricity?
That depends on the type and power. An infrared sauna of around 1.8 kW costs about € 3 per month with three half-hour sessions a week (at € 0.25 per kWh). A Finnish sauna with a 4.5 kW heater comes to around € 7.30 per month with the same use, mainly due to the heating up.
How accurate is this calculation?
This is an indication. Actual usage depends on the outdoor temperature, insulation, the set temperature, and how often you use the product. The ice bath figures are based on measurements with the O'Spa chiller; sauna heaters modulate based on temperature, so actual usage is often somewhat lower.
Which electricity rate should I enter?
Check your energy contract or annual statement for your supply rate including taxes. In the Netherlands, this is usually somewhere between € 0.25 and € 0.35 per kWh. If you have solar panels, tick the solar panels option in the calculator: we then calculate with half your rate, because part of the usage comes from your own generation.
